Arthur Penn was pioneer of cinematic violence
Arthur Penn, the screen and theater director who almost single-handedly blasted cinematic violence into a new realm with 1967"s "Bonnie and Clyde," died Tuesday at his home in Manhattan. He was 88. The cause was heart failure.
